Title Professional Electrical Engineer/ Designer
 
Reports to General Manager

Job summary

As Professional Electrical Engineer you are responsible for creating, developing, and refining electrical systems, layouts, and schematics for various projects. You will work closely with our Preconstruction Team to ensure designs meet technical specifications, safety standards, and project requirements for our customers. This role combines technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and proficiency with design software to produce accurate and efficient electrical plans.

Summary of essential job functions

  1. Design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, control systems, and instrumentation, tailored to project needs.
  2. Work with customers, project managers, and other design teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project plans.
  3. Ensure designs adhere to local and national codes, and industry standards.
  4. Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis and short-circuit analysis to ensure system efficiency and safety.
  5. Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, bills of materials (BOM), and equipment lists.
  6. Identify and resolve design issues, such as conflicts with other systems or site-specific challenges.
  7. Create detailed electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Design Master, and similar tools.
  8. Update designs based on feedback from project managers, clients, or field observations during construction or installation.
  9. Assist in coordinating with contractors and vendors to ensure accurate implementation of designs.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field
  2. 3+ years of experience in electrical design or a related field
  3. Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP)
  4. Knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring methods
  5. Understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations
  6. Strong analytical and mathematical skills for calculations
  7. Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting
  8. Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively

 Typical Tools and Software:

  1. AutoCAD, Revit, Design Master, or other CAD platforms
  2. Electrical design software
  3. Microsoft Office Suite

 Work Environment:

  1. Primarily office-based, with occasional site visits to gather information
  2. Will involve collaboration with remote teams or clients
